Vincent Paragano - Host Coach and Drew University's Fencing Camp Coordinator
Coach Paragano took over the reins as Head Coach of Drew University's Men's and Women's Fencing teams in early 2015.
The Drew Rangers qualified 15 fencers to the NCAA Regional Championships in 2016, best in Division III . The women won 23 dual meets and placed 4th in the NIWFA Championships.
Coach Paragano was selected as Coach of the Year by the 2016 Eastern Women's Fencing Conference.
Before arriving at Drew, he was a highly successful New Jersey high school coach, leading two different schools (Bernards and Governor Livingston HS) from start-ups to championships. In 15 years as a head coach, his teams amassed a 290-92 winning record, a State Team Championship, 9 Final Four appearances, 5 State Squad Championships, 2 Santelli Team Championships, 10 District/Conference Team Championships, and 16 District Squad Championships. Three times he was honored as the NJSIAA Fencing Coach of the Year and was the Newark Star Ledger 2009 "Fencing Coach of the Year".
Coach Paragano is an accomplished national and international veteran-level competitor. In addition to many national medals, he has won 7 international medals, including the Bronze Medal in Saber at the 2015 Pan-American Veterans Championship in Lima, Peru. He still competes in national and international veterans circuit competitions.
Dayn DeRose -- Associate Program Director, Prevot d'Armes
Head Coach for 19 years of Drew University's Men's and Women's Varsity Fencing Teams. Trained several national level collegiate team members. Previously the founder and head coach of the Millburn High School teams. Brought the boys team to championship level in 5 years, winning the state epee championship and training many national level cadet and junior fencers. He continues to train high school age fencers at his club, South Mountain Martial Arts in Madison NJ.
Dayn has been coaching fencing since 1984. He is a member of both USA Fencing and the United States Fencing Coaches Association, which has certified him a a prevot d'armes in all three weapons. In addition to fencing, Coach DeRose is an internationally recognized master of several martial arts/fighting techniques. 7 times US National Champion in full contact karate. He has coached the USA Team in Sambo at the World Championships.
Action Martial Arts Magazine has named Coach DeRose to its Hall of Honor and presented him with its Diamond Lifetime Award for contribution to the Martial Arts.
Laurence D. (Laurie) Schiller, Ph.D., Certified Fencing Master
Coach Schiller, Head Coach served 39 years now Coach Emeritus, of the Northwestern University fencing program, one of the top fencing teams in the country. He is the second winningest fencing coach in NCAA history, with over 1,100 dual meet victories. "Laurie" is the 8-time Midwest Collegiate Coach of the Year and twice the U S Fencing Coaches' Association National Coach of the Year. Past students include several coaches and numerous All-Americans. This is Coach Schiller's 4th year with the Fencing Camp at Drew.
Wang Yung, Certified Fencing Master in Sabre
Still an active and successful competitor in Veterans Sabre, nationally and internationally, having won both National and World Veterans Sabre Championships.
Fencing Master in sabre, certified by the US Fencing Coaches Association and the International Academy of Arms. Students have won cadet, junior, senior and veterans medals, and competed on USA National Teams, winning gold medals at the world level. Teaches coaching clinics in up-to-date sabre instruction methods. Chair of the U.S Fencing Coaches Association Certification and Accreditation Board. Lead examiner of candidates for sabre coaching certification.
Assistant Coach at Haverford College for sabre. . Coached the USA Veterans Team at the 2016 World Veterans Fencing Championships. His student, Jane Eyre, won her 4th consecutive Sabre Gold Medal at the 2016 Games, the best ever in USA Veterans Fencing history.

Paul Sise, Certified Fencing Master in Epee, Certified Prevot in Foil and Sabre
Associate Chair of the US Fencing Coaches Association's Certification and Accreditation Board; Conducts clinics on coaching methods and principles. Leads examinations of fencing coaches for levels of certification. Author of A Basic Foil Companion
, a best-selling foil textbook. Head Coach and owner of Pioneer Valley Fencing Academy in Easthampton, Massachusetts. Over twenty years coaching experience. 3rd year with the Fencing Camp at Drew.
Coach Lisa Campi-Sapery
With over 30 years of fencing experience, she has the unique distinction of being a national-level fencer, active three-weapon coach, referee, and bout committee member. After retiring from World Cup competition, earned top officiating classifications in all three weapons. She is an international referee, supervises and mentors young referees in all three weapons. In addition to coaching at the camp, Coach Lisa will apply her Master's Degree in Exercise Physiology to assisting campers in understanding healthy nutrition and hydration in both training and competition, proper training methods, and safe cross-training. Coaches Morris Hill High School in NJ. Coach Lisa is especially adept in teaching young fencers. Lisa is a Prevot d'Epee and a Moniteur d'Armes from the USFCA.
Joshua Herring - College Fencing Coach
Certified coach in sabre and epee by the USFA Coaches College. Coach Herring is the sabre coach of the Temple University Women's Varsity Fencing Team, Varsity Assistant Coach, and Head Coach of the Temple Fencing Club.
The Temple Varsity Sabre team has had great success, with a record of 76 -33 over the past three years. Temple qualified all members of the sabre squad to the NCAA Regionals 3 years in a row, with one fencer being named All-American at the NCAA Championships.
A highly effective strip-side coach at competitions, Coach Herring is particularly strong in creating technical, footwork and tactical drills as well as situational bouting to refine strategies and tactics. His individual training is personalized to develop the overall game of each student.
He is a nationally rated referee in all weapons, and officiates in numerous NAC and National events.
Coach Herring is in his 2nd year with the Fencing Camp at Drew.
Zach Moss became Head Coach of Northwestern University Fencing after serving there as the assistant to Dr. Laurie Schiller since 2014.
A 2008 graduate of Duke University, he competed on the Duke Varsity all four years, where he was coached by Maitre Alex Beguinet. Coach Moss also holds a Master's Degree in Sports Management from Concordia University.
While training under the coaching mentorship of Olympic Coach Ro Sobolvaro, he coached at the St. Paul Academy, The Summit School and the Twin Cities Fencing Club and performed various fencing adminstrative duties for the Minnesota High School Fencing Coaches Association, including Director of Competitons.
